Our Our ‘Gorgeous Savvy’ Sauvignon Blanc comes from Garnier Vineyard just outside the town of Mosier, Oregon on the banks of the mighty Columbia River in the Columbia Gorge AVA. The soil here is shallow sandy loam with numerous basalt protrusions throughout the vineyard. Sunny, wind-blown and visually dramatic this site produces wines that are as vivid and striking as their environs.

The fruit for our 2016 was hand harvested on August 31st, whole bunch pressed and portions fermented and aged in a concrete egg, jacketed stainless steel, cigar-shaped barrel and neutral oak barrels. After primary fermentation, the wine was aged for 6 months on light lees and bottled on April 27, 2017.

Finish Chemistry: 13.1%, 6.7g/L TA, 3.28 pH

TASTING NOTES:
The 2016 Gorgeous Savvy opens with lifted and loud aromas of green apple, honey dew melon, sweet pea flowers and lemon verbena. One gets the sense that if a lemon, tangerine and grapefruit where ever combined into one it might very well sing close to this. There is confectionary quality of green and white gum drops, the spring scent of perfect little daffodils and a mineral salt essence like crushed rock near the sea. The palate has a richness and tactility brought by the egg and oak but no flavor notes from that neutral wood, just succulence and expanse which is kept precise and in focus with a core of vibrant and racy acidity. Finish is salivaty, sleek and saline.
