2016 Gorgeous Grenache

Generous, vibrant and pure, our 2015 Grenache comes from Garnier Vineyard just outside of Mosier, Oregon on the banks of the mighty Columbia River in the Columbia Gorge. Wrought by the work of this regions dramatic geologic history, the soil here is a shallow sandy loam with basalt protrusions and produces lively, energetic wines with distinction and personality.

TASTING NOTES:

Deep magenta in color, our 2016 Gorgeous Grenache opens with confectionary aromas of blue raspberry, boysenberry, spiced plum and black currant jam. There is a cocoa here along with black licorice, graham cracker, toasty pecan and brooding dark berry. The palate is plush and succulent with a tangy savory quality. We added 25% whole clusters during the fermentation which brings complexity in the form of earthy, brushy notes around a core of blue fruits. A mineral note here too rings reminiscent of iron and allspice with a beetroot meatiness that suggest sharing with sumpuous cool weather fair.

13.5% alc, 5.2 g/L TA and 3.69 pH

AGING:
14 months in neutral French oak
